This is not only a great read but also a great learning experience also it has many hidden messages within the story. King intrigues you with intelligence and great writing skills.Don't miss out on this MUST read go get "I Hate My Job" TODAY.
What I love the most about this book is the true to life aspect. I know so many people who either at one time or now work in jobs that they hate and have allowed themselves to become wage slaves, indulging in dreams that fade as time goes by. It tells the story of many real life people but still retains unique perspectives. I was drawn in from the first page. Everyone should read this book. I bought it without knowing anything about it and it turned out to be quite a treat. Kudos, my King!
After reading "I Hate My Job" and your notes on the book, I must say I am very impressed.
Thank you for the notes, I appreciate your insight from the author's point of view. I did grasp most of this while reading, but there were a couple of things that you enlightened me of. Mainly, the use of pink lemonade to water is very profound but subtle. Nice touch. I just thought Justice liked pink lemonade, haha; but it goes to his character development.
I really think your book should be used in upper HS/ College literature classes; and much of what you passed to me on your cheat sheet could be used as possible discussions and assignments. You obviously took great care in building the structure and themes, which reflects in a great story and inspiration.
I'm not sure if you recall, but the night I met you at the book signing, I was wearing a Cardinals cap. I didn't know the significance of the bird in your novel then, but I find it ironic. Although the cardinals appear during dark times for Justice, I think the last few times they are mentioned they build towards the theme of renewal and rebirth.
Your book illustrates many social themes, challenging the reader to think; all the while providing comedic entertainment and steamy romance. I strongly recommend your book to mature readers of all generations!
In "I Hate My Job" King Dahkir does a wonderful job of taking the reader through the day to day life and metmorphis of his main character's (Justice) life, as a child tramatized by witnessing the death of his Beloved mother to a man finding strength and peace within himself and allowing love to flow towards, through and from of him. An urban novel definately worth reading and suggest to others as a healthy, exciting read! Not the adverage love/hate story ;)
Just finished my copy of I Hate My Job, and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure what to expect from the snippets I'd read prior, but I really got a chance to know each of the characters, and see them through the struggles of their lives, approaching decisions that we've all had to make in order to get over a way of thinking.
Unlike the average book that takes time to get into, from the beginning I was capitvated with Justice's story, and curious to see what decisions he'd make and when the urgency of change would come. It was nice that we saw relationships develop and dissolve as life isn't always fair, and as the story develops, the ending gives us the sense of what was destined, with a realization of life and its immortal process.
